Celery juice


So naturally, wanting to stay up to date for myself and clients, I have been drinking it every morning for about 3 months. With any health or lifestyle change I like to give it AT LEAST a couple of months to see if I feel, or see, a difference. Drinking one celery juice isn’t going to do anything. I don’t have a juicer, I know, I know, it’s just one of those adult purchases I don’t want to make. That, and socks. So I use my Nutribullet Yes, using a blender vs. a juicer creates an extra step. I use a nut milk bag to strain the celery “smoothie”, but it’s not a big deal. Also, since the recipe is just celery, it’s easy enough.

So let’s discuss why celery juice. Celery provides natural dietary fiber. I think we can all appreciate the benefits of fiber, i.e., boosting digestion and aiding in weight loss. Celery also has a high water content, but don’t be fooled, it can (and for me it did) cause some bloating initially. Celery contains antioxidants and aids in improving our liver (hello detoxification), skin, eye, and brain health.

I first heard about the “health benefits” of celery in high school. I put health benefits in quotes because in reality, they were not healthy. It was all purely for weight loss in the least healthy way. Before I tell you this, let me be clear, I DO NOT CONDONE THIS. IT IS NOT HEALTHY, and in fact, very stupid. I was told to eat celery when I was hungry because it had negative calories. What I mean by this is that celery has such a high water content, and so few calories, that the caloric cost would be higher to digest this celery than the celery’s caloric content. I was told this is how I lose weight. How terrible, right? Not to mention, when it’s all said and done, it wont even help lose that weight.

But it was from the medical medium that I heard of celery juice, and its actual health benefits. If you haven’t heard about Anthony William, definitely check him out. He has a podcast, books, and he has some really great info. Here is his article about the benefits of celery juice.

           As I write this I am sipping on my morning celery juice. I have grown to love starting my morning with a big 16oz glass. I have felt like I have had more energy on the days I start like this, and this may sound weird, but like my digestion tract has been calmed down. I can also see my skin looking glowier. You guys definitely have to try it and tell me you don’t feel the same. That is all I have for now, until next time.
